Sofitel Berlin – Preliminary insolvency proceedings opened

Berlin/Potsdam, July 2020: Cristian Graf Brockdorff, from the nationwide insolvency and restructuring law firm BBL Brockdorff & Partner Rechtsanwälte, has been appointed as preliminary insolvency administrator of the operating company HAB-Betriebs GmbH by the Charlottenburg Local District Court and confirmed that an application for the opening of regular insolvency proceedings was already filed at the end of June. The Charlottenburg Local District Court (case no 36h IN 3021/20) then initiated the preliminary insolvency administration on June 26, 2020. The operation of the 5-star hotel on Kurfürstendamm will continue for the time being within the scope of the currently still limited opportunities for the hotel and catering industry. Brockdorff said that the company was currently examining the possibilities for a long-term continuation of operations.

The 5-star hotel has 311 rooms and suites and is located in the middle of City West in the immediate vicinity of the Kurfürstendamm shopping mile. Since February 1, 2014, the former Hotel Concorde Berlin has been managed under the new name Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm. In September 2014, the hotel then launched a new look with a modified gastronomy concept. The architect Jan Kleihues was responsible for the design of the reception area, the library, the Le Faubourg Lounge-Bar and the Le Faubourg Restaurant. The restaurants are also open.
