In Juli 2024 itimis AG, a company based in Lünen, filed an application at the responsible District Court in Dortmund for an insolvency process under self-administration. The Court appointed Marvin Bauernfeind, a lawyer from BBL, as provisional administrator. The company’s financial difficulties arose due to the general challenges posed by the German economy and, in particular, the troubling situation facing the automotive industry.
In April 2025, the insolvency plan proposed for itemis AG was unanimously adopted by the company’s creditors and confirmed by the District Court. This allows the majority of those employed by itemis, around 170 personnel, to continue working for the company. Dr David Bunzel a specialist lawyer working for Husemann & Partner, acted as general representative during the proceedings.
